Schellenberg Wittmer advised Cardinal Health, Inc. on the USD 1,94 billion acquisition of Johnson & Johnson’s Cordis

Dublin, Ohio (US) / Zurich – The business law firm Schellenberg Wittmer with offices in Geneva and Zurich advised Cardinal Health, Inc., a leading manufacturer of medical and surgical products based in Dublin, Ohio (US) during the USD 1,94 billion acquisition of Johnson & Johnson’s Cordis business, a global leader in the development and manufacture of interventional vascular technology.

Cardinal Health was founded by Robert D. Walter as Cardinal Foods and was at first a food wholesaler. Through a series of acquisitions Cardinal Health developed into a drug distribution company and finally into a global healthcare services company.

Schellenberg Wittmer acted as Swiss legal counsel to Cardinal Health in all aspects of the acquisition while the global law firm Jones Day had the overall lead. The team of Schellenberg Wittmer consisted of partners Oliver Triebold (overall lead, corporate/M&A), Philippe Ducor (health regulatory/compliance), Vincent Carron (employment) and Josef Caleff (real estate).
